Death kept its own quiet garden in Cahergarriff, hidden beneath blackthorn and briars on a sun-warmed slope. People may have laid their dead there before the land closed over them, while the living pastured elsewhere. The bushes still guard what was given up, dense and impatient with visitors.

In pasture on a rise on a NE-facing slope. An inaccessible area (c. 20m x 20m) was, according to local information, used as a burial ground. It is no longer in use and is totally overgrown by blackthorn bushes, briars and deciduous trees. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
