What is recorded here

Not shown on the first two Ordnance Survey maps, the disused ground in County Cork still holds a rectangular earthen enclosure, a bullan stone, and a cross fragment. Local tradition calls it a famine burial ground and a cillíneach for unbaptised children, while the absence of grave markers leaves that claim unmarked in stone. It is the kind of place where memory does more work than evidence, and the dead remain nameless because the living never stopped naming them.

Not shown on first two eds of OS 6-inch maps (1842; 1902). In early ecclesiastical enclosure (CO118-031002-). Rectangular area (L 22.5m; Wth 20.6m) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.4m). No grave markers noted. Local tradition of 'famine burial ground' and 'cillíneach for burial of unbaptised children' here (Hourihane and Hourihane 1979, 72).
