What is recorded here
Burial Gd. (Disused) has vanished from the ridge of rock on a S facing slope in County Donegal, Ireland. The land is now rough pasture with no trace of the graves, though maps from the past still point to the hidden place. People may have walked that ridge, buried their dead beside the stone, and forgotten the exact spot before the grass took it back.
There is now no trace of the burial ground marked on the 2nd and 3rd editions of the OS 6-inch maps. It was located on a ridge of rock on a S facing slope in an area of rough pasture.
The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Compiled by: Brian Lacey with Eamon Cody, Claire Cotter, Judy Cuppage, Noel Dunne, Vincent Hurley, Celie O'Rahilly, Paul Walsh and Seán Ó Nualláin (Lifford: Donegal County Council, 1983). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
