What is recorded here
Burial Gd (Disused) lies inside a ringfort in County Cork, Ireland, where many grave markers still break the soil. The dead may have chosen the fortress because its walls promised protection even after death. People may have walked past those markers for generations, remembering names no longer written anywhere.
In ringfort (CO139-004002-). Many grave markers noted in interior.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
