What is recorded here

This is a granite stone (dims. 1.36m x 0.57-1.24m; H 0.38m) with one rounded basin (diam. 0.5m; D 0.34m), which is locally thought to cure warts. It was located beside an E-W field bank on a gentle E-facing slope, but it was moved a short distance to its present location (WX045-015002-) on the E side of the enlarged field c. 1982. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 23 July, 2013
Likely dating to the early medieval period, the bullaun stone was traditionally used for ritual or medicinal purposes, with the basin possibly used for holy water or as a cure for ailments like warts. Such stones often held spiritual significance and were associated with Christian or pre-Christian healing practices.
