What is recorded here

Bullaun stones are meditation markers, worn smooth by repeated prayer. This one sits beside a children’s burial ground in Killeen, where devotion and loss would have tangled together. It vanished from sight before the 1997 inspection, perhaps buried, moved or simply forgotten. The absence does not erase the function: a stone worn by patience may still belong to the place that first needed it.

In an enclosure (MA062-123001-) and children’s burial ground (MA062-123002-). According to local information, a bullaun stone (MA062-123003-) was found here (SMR file: pers. comm. Probably dating to the early Christian or later prehistoric period, bullaun stones were often used for ritual purposes, such as the preparation of holy water. Local tradition may associate the stone with spiritual or healing practices, though specific folklore is not recorded.
