Bullaun stone in Doirín Dún Aodha

According to Wakeman (1875, 459), 'Not far from the Pass of Keim-an-eigh....is a five-holed Bullán rock, containing oval-shaped stonesin each cavity. The holes are supposed by the neighbouring peasantry to have formed portion of the belongings of a dairy; and the stones are looked upon as petrified "meskins" of butter'. Exact location not known; the pass of Keimaneigh defines the boundary between two townlands. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
