Bullaun stone in Bannow

Located inside the S doorway in the nave of Bannow church (WX045-045001-) is a granite bullaun stone (dims 0.58m x 0.57m; H 0.31m) with a single basin (diam. 0.3m; D 0.16m). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 22 July, 2013

Likely dating to the early Christian period (5th–9th centuries AD), the bullaun stone may have been used for ritual purification or the preparation of holy water.
