Building in Moneymore

Discovered during pre-development excavation at the site of the former Drogheda Grammar School in 1998 (Excavation Licence No. 98E0544). The remains of a medieval building (L 15.7m; Wth 4.6m) were found sealed below 14th century garden soil. The E-W walls survived but the N-S walls were partially destroyed by later activity. The walls were clay bonded and measured 0.8m in thickness. There was a doorway in the W wall. Found in association with a number of other medieval buildings (see also LH024-041069-, LH024-041072-, LH024-041075-, LH024-041076- and LH024-041077-), the remains of the Archbishops palace (LH024-041078-), two medieval corn-drying kins (LH024-041070- and LH024-041074-), and a lime kiln (LH024-041073-).
