Building in Hoop's-Lot

On the E bank of the River Suir, where there is an island in the middle of the river, at the W end of the village of Golden. Barry (1977, 147) suggested that there was an earlier 12th-14th century stone castle at the location of the tower house (TS060-097001-) on the island. However, archaeological excavations in 2003 and 2004 revealed the corner of a substantial 13th/14th building 100m to the E of the tower house, immediately S of the bridge (Moran 2006, 466-7; 2007, 410).
