Building in Baunrickeen,rathlogan

According to the OS Letters (1830), 'not far from Fertagh is a ruin called Baun-richen, which is said to have been part of the ancient monastery of Fertagh and probably was the farm house belonging to it' (O'Flanagan ed. 1930, vol. 1, 139). In 1987 Baunrickeen House, in the townland of the same name, was inspected, however, there was no indication of medieval fabric. The building appears to be the same as one described by Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 297), 'Some fences of like character, and remains of foundations, beside the Cullahill road, a-quarter of a mile north-east of the churchyard, indicate the site of some building connected with the Priory. The place is called the Shanachluch or Old Building; it is partly in Rathlogan and partly in Bawnrickeen'. On the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map there are a number of buildings on the E side of the Cullahill road at the townland boundary, though none are indicated as antiquities. This building is currently unlocated.
