This bridge is a fine stone cut-stone and cast-iron structure that forms an attractive feature on the road leading out of Kildare town to the north. The construction of the span with cast-iron beams is of technical and engineering merit. The bridge exhibits good quality stone masonry to the abutment walls, having fine, crisp joints. The bridge is of considerable historical and social significance as a reminder of the Great Southern and Western Railway network development in the mid nineteenth century.
