Single-arched bridge carrying road the Swilly Burn, built c. 1870 and possibly containing earlier fabric. Segmental-headed arch having brick voussoirs to arch; brick construction to arch barrel. Partially rendered rubble stone construction to abutments and parapets. Cement rendered coping over parapets. Modern utilities pipe to the east elevation. Tarmacadam deck with grass verges. Located in the rural countryside to the north of Lifford. Similar in style and date to bridge (see 40906317) located a short distance to the west.

This simple single-arched road bridge makes a positive contribution to the landscape to the north of Lifford. It retains its early form and character despite some modern alterations. It is robustly-constructed in local rubble stone/field stone masonry, and its continued survival and use stands as testament to the quality of its original construction. The red brick voussoirs to the arch suggests that it dates to the second half of the nineteenth century although it is built on the site of an earlier bridge that was in existence in c. 1837 (Ordnance Survey first edition six-inch map). It is similar in style to a bridge (see 40906317) located a short distance to the west, which suggests that these structures were built as part of a common programme. This bridge remains an important element of the local transport network, and is an addition to the built heritage of the local area.
