A bridge representing an important component of the early nineteenth-century civil engineering heritage of Achill Island with the architectural value of the composition, one recalling the Alexander Nimmo (1783-1832)-designed Glennanean Bridge (1829-30), Coill an Locháin [Cuillaloughaun] (see 31306601), confirmed by the "pointed" profile of the arch making a dramatic visual statement at a crossing over a minor stream 'scarcely to be tracked to the sea' (Barrow 1836, 32).
