Gateway, designed 1837, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of granite ashlar piers on granite ashlar chamfered plinths having battlemented capping supporting spear head-detailed wrought iron double gates. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Bloomfield.
A gateway erected to a design by Daniel Robertson (d. 1849) forming part of a neat self-contained group alongside an adjacent gate lodge (see 15702549) with the resulting ensemble making a pleasing visual statement in a sylvan street scene at the entrance on to the grounds of the Bloomfield estate (cf. 15702133).
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
