What is recorded here
A corn mill referred to 1654 in the Civil Survey (Simington 1942, 549) as ‘Priest Mill being a Corne Mill, ye walls stone, ye ruffe slates. Lying a mile from ye Citty northward upon ye River Neor’. The ‘Bleach Mills’ (OS 6-inch map 1839-40) and ‘Woollen Mills’ (OS 6-inch map 1945-6) at this location are likely to be on the site of the earlier mill.
