What is recorded here

Mortons farmed the castle ruins for centuries. Rath Castle fell into decay while its bawn wall still stood. The farmyard reused that wall as a boundary. Stone from a castle became stone for a farm.
Farmyard located on footprint of Rath Castle (LI015-012----) which is visible on OSi orthophotos and on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13. Outline of farmyard partially defined by fragment of the bawn wall of Rath Castle (Salter 2004, 98). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 26 November 2021

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
