Bawn in Galesquarter — Report the wrong picture

Galesquarter is a seven-sided bawn in County Laois, built around 80 metres north-south and 60 metres east-west with a 1.1-metre wall. Gun loops at the north and east show it was made to shoot back, not merely keep out. The inner wall and angle towers still stand close to the tower house, while the destroyed northern and eastern sections suggest violence broke through what the builders believed unbreakable.

A large well preserved seven-sided bawn wall (dims. c. 80m N-S, c. 60m E-W; wall T c. 1.1m), with gun loops at N and E, survives; and an inner defensive wall with angle towers, which is set close to the tower house (LA035-022001-).
