Creagh Demesne in County Mayo contained a bawn and castle owned partly by Thomas oge mc Tibbot Bourck during the 1635 Strafford Inquisition. The exact spot has been lost, but the written share suggests a working fortress where local power was measured in fractions rather than grandeur.

This bawn, with its associated castle (MA117-045----), is listed as follows in the 1635 Strafford Inquisition of Co. Mayo: 'Thomas oge mc Tibbot Bourck -1/4 carton of Creagh,…and 1/2 of the castle and bawn thereon;…' (O' Sullivan 1958, 55). Its exact location in the townland is unknown. Thomas Óg Mac Tiobóid Buí held the Bawn in Creagh Demesne in 1635, as recorded in the Strafford Inquisition of County Mayo. It is important as evidence of Gaelic land tenure and the partial anglicization of Irish lordships during the early 17th century.
