Bawn in Cherry Island — Report the wrong picture

Cherry Island in County Leitrim holds a D-shaped bawn where a thin wall still marks the edge of a forgotten castle. A kiln buried in a cairn rests on the western boundary, suggesting people fired clay or cooked food inside the same place they defended. The entrance has vanished, but the shape remains clear enough to walk around and imagine the hands that built it.

The castle (LE025-061001-) is within a D-shaped enclosure (dims 31mN-S; 26m E-W) defined by a wall (Wth c. 1m; H 0.5m), with a cairn containing a kiln (LE025-061003-) overlying the enclosure wall at W.
