Bawn in Ballyheashill is a lost earthwork on the NE side of the castle, hidden beneath high vegetation and remembered only through traces of banks and further remains. It may have been a working enclosure, a boundary, or a forgotten room of the estate, shaped by hands that no longer answer. What is certain is that the land still holds the line of its making, waiting for someone to clear the growth and read it again.

High vegetation during site inspection obscured the earthworks that were located to the NE of the castle (OF004-015001-). Described by T. Lynch on the 09 October 1980 as, 'on the NE side there are traces of a bawn and earthen banks, and beyond this are remains of further earthworks (SMR file 1980). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
