Tragh-Bhaile, the ancient strand at Dundalk, became a killing field in 1399 when Donal MacHenry O'Neill charged the King's troops and failed. The Anglo-Irish routed the sons of Henry O'Neill, captured Donal, and sent him to England, leaving the beach marked by a desperate charge rather than a clever victory.
