Battle of Collooney

An unsteady cannon on Union Rock threatened to shatter the Franco-Irish advance, until young Bartholomew Teeling broke from the ranks and rode straight at the gunner. He killed the marksman, seized the weapon, and forced the British retreat into Sligo. The rock still holds that sudden violence, transforming a ordinary field into a place where one reckless charge rewrote the battle.
