Barrow

Barrow, unclassified

What is recorded here

Half a kilometre from a ringfort, a barrow holds a hidden chamber, proving that the dead did not stop the living from using the land. The mound is small, the ditch is shallow, and the views stretch across County Kildare, yet the layers suggest a place where memory, storage and survival were kept together. People may have buried their own, hidden their grain, or watched the horizon from the same ground. The earth still carries that much, even when its names have gone.
Cropmark of small circular-shaped enclosure (approx. diam. 10m) visible on Google earth aerial imagery. Ringfort (KD009-005----) 400m to NW. See attached image taken from Google Earth aerial photographs taken 28/06/2018. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien based on details kindly provided by Edward O'Riordan. Date of upload: 2 November 2018
