What is recorded here
Barrow is a hidden ring-barrow on flat pasture beside the Camoge River, joining a nearby mound, other barrows and an enclosure in a forgotten neighbourhoood. It resisted ordinary mapping and satellite vision until aerial photography revealed its shape, suggesting the land itself withheld the marker from casual notice. People may have passed within metres for generations, unaware that a burial circle watched the grass grow above it.
On flat pasture 1km NE of the Camoge River. The townland boundary with Knockcorragh is 45m to S. The church and graveyard at Caherelly (LI023-085001/2-) is 320m to WSW. A mound (LI023-208----) lies 200m to NE, ring-barrows (LI023-216001/3-) 150m to E and an enclosure (LI023-217----) 150m to S. The ring-barrow is not depicted on historic OSi maps or visible on the OSi orthoimage taken 2005-12. Identified by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 271; AP 4/3658) as a ring-barrow. The site of the monument is visible on the most recent Google Earth orthoimage taken 28/06/2018.
