Barrow

On undulating pasture 70m SW of the townland boundary with Stonepark. Ring-barrows (LI023-268/292----) are located in the adjacent field 120m to WNW. The site is not depicted on historic OSi maps but is visible on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-12. Identified by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 24903; AP 4/3706) as a circular ring-barrow (ext. diam. c. 10m). The ring-barrow is visible on Google Earth orthoimage taken 06/02/2018, it is less obvious on the most recent Google Earth orthoimage taken 02/07/2018. A Neolithic ring-barrow, dating to approximately 3500–2500 BCE, typically used as a burial monument. Its significance lies in its association with early agricultural communities and ceremonial practices in the region.
