What is recorded here

Located on high ground with good views in all directions. Large natural rock outcrop marked on OS 25-inch map as 'Ballinough Big Rock' which was used during penal times as a mass rock. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 09 June 2014
Linked to Catholic worship during the Penal Times, the site was used as a mass rock where clandestine religious services were held. The tradition reflects the resilience of faith in a period when public Catholic worship was banned.
