Explorer Tom Skerries Railway Station in Townparks is playing hide-and-seek with me. A tale from 1850 says a detached three-bay single-storey railway station with a gabled central breakfront and a cast-iron platform canopy built it, but there was no trace of it even then. Take a picture for me if you pass!
Explorer Tom Windmill in Townparks is a straight-sided cylindrical structure with a cap that turns, originally built as a four-sail windmill. It’s part of the Skerries Mills Complex and has a raised bank around it, so it looks like it’s trying to sit down permanently.
Explorer Tom Skerries Mills is a windmill from 1525 with canvas sails that look like they’re about to fly away. The thatched roof is turned to the wind. It’s basically a giant toy. Spin around if you can!
Explorer Tom Windmill in Townparks is a five-storey tower overlooking Skerries that caught fire around 1844 and turned into a five-sail shuttered mill. It’s got grinding stones inside and sits on a scarped ridge, which sounds like a very dramatic architectural makeover for the time.
Explorer Tom Skerries Rock in County Dublin is just a rock, but it’s got a girdle around it or something. It looks like it’s guarding the shore from angry waves. Take a picture of the stone!

Skerries BeachVisitor information · 1322 ydExplorer Tom Percy French wrote 'Where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea' from this view. He was a composer and artist. Sit on the bench and pretend you’re inspired. It works every time.
Explorer Tom Colt Island in County Dublin. Sounds like it’s full of young horses galloping around. I can imagine the hooves on the rocky shore. Take a photo if there are any equine residents hanging out.
Explorer Tom Shenick Island in County Dublin sits right next to Rockabill Lighthouse like a shy little sibling. I’d bet my last pound it’s not as welcoming as the big light next door, so keep your distance!
Explorer Tom Baldongan Castle was described in 1783 as a quadrangular court flanked by four towers attached to the west end of Baldongan church, with last remains removed in 1975.
Explorer Tom Ardgillan Castle in County Dublin looks like it’s judging your outfit while standing on its hill, so take a picture for me and try not to look too lost.
