Monaster Gallagh stands in the Demesne of Down as an Augustinian priory, yet no identifiable trace of the foundation remains. The lost monks perhaps walked past Downpatrick, hearing the sea breathe through the grass before stone was ever cut. Their absence does not erase the priory; it hands the place back to imagination, where prayer still moves through empty air.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as AUGUSTINIAN PRIORY: MONASTERIUM HIBERNICORUM, MONASTER GALLAGH. Recorded period: C12TH; MEDIEVAL. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
