ARTILLERY FORT: PORT-NORRIS or MOUNT-NORRIS (unlocated) in Mountnorris

ARTILLERY FORT: PORT-NORRIS or MOUNT-NORRIS (unlocated)

What is recorded here

Mountnorris hid a C17th artillery fort whose exact position has slipped from memory. Port-Norris and Mount-Norris are two names for the same lost weapon place in County Armagh. A gun platform may still lie beneath grass, waiting for someone to stop asking permission and begin listening.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ARTILLERY FORT: PORT-NORRIS or MOUNT-NORRIS (unlocated). Recorded period: C17TH. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
