What is recorded here

Galbally Church in County Limerick holds two worn sandstone blocks beneath its east window: a trapezoidal figure seated with something on its knee, and a possible head beside it. They may be fragments from an older wall memorial, pulled through time into the church wall like a sentence broken mid-breath. Whoever carved them gave up clarity to the rain. What remains is posture, presence, and the suggestion that something important was being held.

Architectural fragments possibly from a wall memorial described in the Urban Survey of Limerick (Bradley et. al. 1989, 131-2) as following; 'Under the east window of Galbally Church (LI049-086002-) a trapezoidal shaped block of sandstone has been inserted which is decorated with a figure in high relief. The features are very worn but it appears to be seated and holding something on its knee.
