Two altar slabs from the Augustinian Black Abbey, probably older than 1700, now occupy small chapels beside the south transept of the Franciscan Friary. They left their own house to serve another order, carrying prayers and chisel marks across a boundary that should have closed with the abbey.

According to Urban Survey of County Limerick (Bradley et. al. 1989, 31) 'two altar slabs from this abbey (i.e. the Augustinian Black Abbey LI021-032006-) which can probably be dated to prior to 1700, are said to be in the small chapels off the south transept of the Franciscan Friary' (LI021-032007-).
