Architectural feature in Town Parks

On the W side of the town, N of Main Street. The medieval church of St. Nicholas of Myra (TS085-004006-) appears to have survived until c. 1813 when it was demolished and replaced by a C of I church (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 1, 63). Incorporated in the E face of the W kerb wall of the church there is a round, limestone fragment (H 0.3; Wth 0.45m) with external chamfer, which formed a window head or the head of a piscina or stoup and probably belonged to the medieval church at the site.
