Architectural feature

What is recorded here

Located on a W-facing slope and built into a wall on the S side of the old Clonmines to Fethard road. The stonework of a pointed doorway (Wth 0.98m; H 1.28m) of sandstone and Old Red Sandstone with a chamfered edge was always probably blocked and serves no purpose. Originally the stones may have come from the Cistercian abbey (WX045-027001-) c. 300m to the NW and may have been left over from building or making alterations to the church (WX045-029001-) c. 50m to the E. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 July, 2013
