Knockseera holds a hidden altar of stone and clay mortar, buried beneath the eastern gable where St. Kieran of Ossory once stood. The upland air still moves through the chamber, carrying the ghost of prayers spoken beside that lost table. What is absent becomes a vessel for imagination, inviting us to picture the hands that built it and the voices that filled the silence.

Remains of an ancient altar built of stone and clay mortar situated against the E gable in the interior of the church (LA022-013001-) (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 129-130). There are no surface remains of this altar visible today.
