Aqueduct in Debicot still has three arches for carrying a canal that has disappeared. The river underneath must be unbearable about it: ‘All that fuss about going over me, and which of us is still here?’
Three-arch canal aqueduct over river, c. 1830. Aqueduct carried Grant Canal (Mountmellick Branch) over. The canal no longer exists, but part of its banks are still in place.
