Ancient Entrenchment is a 400m linear earthwork in County Offaly, Ireland, with a wide fosse flanked by earthen banks. Its south end abuts wet boggy land that may have been impassable when built. Dense overgrowth still hides much of its structure, preserving the quiet mystery of what it guarded or separated.

Linear earthwork that runs for a distance of approx. 400m and which consists of a wide fosse (base Wth 3-4.5m; top Wth 8m; approx. L 400m) which is flanked on either side by an earthen bank (ext. H 1m; int. H 2m; base Wth 8m; top Wth 1.5m). Difficult to examine due to dense overgrowth. The S end of this earthwork abuts onto wet boggy land which may have been impassable at the time. It is possible that the linear earthwork extended further to the N across the road and into the fields to the N although there is no surface remains of any earthwork in this field. A second linear earthwork (OF024-009----) which runs parallel to this linear feature is located to the N.
