The beak or snout
An Socach rises to approximately 600 metres and is part of the rugged landscape of the Cuillin in Skye. Its name, meaning "The Beak" or "The Snout," likely refers to its distinctive, bird-like or animal-like protruding shape. The hill is composed of basalt and gabbro, formed during ancient volcanic activity, and is valued for its contribution to the dramatic and iconic terrain of the Scottish Highlands.
