An Meall Mór is a coastal promontory fort in County Donegal, Ireland. The sea clawed at its base while people lived above the cliff, building a defensible place where the land ended and the water began. The name means the big hill, and the shape still matches that meaning. A fort on a hill by the sea is easy to understand, even when the details have thinned out.
