What is recorded here

Alfie Hale was born in Waterford, Ireland, on 28 August 1939, the youngest of five boys in a family where football ran deeper than hurling. He grew up on Ard na Gréine road next to Walsh Park, but his father and uncles played half-back for Waterford in the 1930s, and his brothers Georgie, Dixie and Harry also represented the club. Hale began at St Joseph’s at ten years old, joined Waterford A.F.C., and went on to score 153 League of Ireland goals while playing for Aston Villa, Doncaster Rovers and Cork Celtic.
