Aghamarta Castle

Ruins

What is recorded here

Aghamarta Castle stands in ruins beside a vanished tower house, marking the moment a grand O'Grady estate lost its oldest anchor. The surviving castle is a handsome nineteenth-century country house, complete with a former ballroom, carriage arch and garden pavilion, yet it has surrendered enough structure to become legend. Perhaps the family left when the old tower collapsed, or perhaps they simply tired of guarding so much stone. Either way, the castle still arranges its rooms like a host expecting guests, waiting for someone brave enough to finish the story.
Aghamarta Castle is recorded as a ruins in County Cork. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
