Abbey Well is a dry ritual site in County Carlow where a high-cross head sits atop a stone chamber built into the wall of an Augustinian graveyard. The lost water may have flowed from the nearby River Slaney or risen through beneath the abbey, feeding devotion before silence took it back.

Marked 'Abbey Well' on all editions of the OS 6-inch maps. Holy well covered by a stone structure on top of which has been inserted the head of a high cross (CW008-045011-) both of which have been built into the S face of the NE wall of the 'Abbey graveyard' (CW008-045005-) which contained the site of an Augustinian abbey (CW008-045001-). River Slaney located 17m to NE. The well now dried up was accessed by stone steps on the S side which was covered by a semi-circular headed arch. Linked to an early Christian tradition, the well is associated with a monastic site, indicated by the high cross fragment incorporated into its structure. The stone covering suggests long-standing veneration, possibly connected to a saintly figure or local pilgrimage practice.
