Yr Aran rises to approximately 550 metres and is part of the rugged mountainous terrain of Eryri (Snowdonia). It is composed primarily of volcanic rocks from the Ordovician period, typical of the region's ancient geological history. The mountain contributes to the cultural and natural landscape valued for its hiking and scenic significance in north Wales.
