Detached six-bay two-storey former pair of attached mill workers' houses, built c. 1790, having recent lean-to half-glazed conservatory to front (south-west) elevation, two-storey flat-roofed extension to rear (north-east) elevation. Now in use as single house. Pitched artificial slate roof with rendered chimneystacks. Rendered walls. Square-headed openings with timber casement windows to south-east end of front elevation, and timber sliding sash windows to north-west end of front elevation, six-over-six over door, others being tripartite, six-over-six flanked by two-over-two. Square-headed door opening with timber battened half-glazed door approached by flight of concrete steps.

One of a group of interesting structures associated with Monard and Coolowen Ironworks, spade and shovel manufacturing enterprise established by Abraham Beale in the late eighteenth century. Closed late as 1960. Although much altered, retains mass and form. Enhanced by timber fittings.
