What is recorded here

Two circular windmill shells still stand on the Tuam ridge, eight hundred metres apart, their opposing north and south doorways waiting for carts that stopped coming decades ago. The larger one reaches six metres with four small windows on each upper floor, bright enough to suggest a baker or merchant once climbed inside before dusk. The missing sails and broken rooms do not weaken the place; they reveal the exact moment human pride surrendered to weather.

On a ridge in gently rolling grassland near NE limits of Tuam town (GA029-199----). Poorly preserved shell of a three-storey circular windmill (D 3.3m, H c. 6m) with opposing doorways at N and S. The 1st and 2nd floors are lit by four single-light rectangular windows at each of the cardinal points. A similar windmill (GA029-0191----) lies c. 870m to W.
