This white commemorative plaque records: Ancient Monument Anne Tyson's Cottage Wordsworth Lodge The poet William Wordsworth lived here whilst a scholar at the Grammar School (1779 - 1787). The Chapel where the poet occasionally worshipped was up the steps on the left of the cottage. Recorded plaque organisation: Wordsworth Society.
William Wordsworth was a major English Romantic poet who played a pivotal role in reviving romanticism in English poetry; he served as Poet Laureate from 1843 until his death.
