This blue commemorative plaque records: William Tipping JP Industrialist Owner of Hurst Mount Mill. Founder member of The Ashton Mechanics' Institute and Justice of the Peace. Lived here for 40 years prior to his death aged 94 in 1905. Recorded plaque organisation: Tameside Metropolitan Borough.
