Lord William Parker, known as Lord Monteagle, is remembered for alerting authorities to the Gunpowder Plot in 1605, which aimed to blow up Parliament and assassinate King James I. His warning played a crucial role in thwarting the conspiracy and led to the capture of the conspirators including Guy Fawkes.
