This marble commemorative plaque records: Armstrong House. The Above Stone is the Door Lintel of the House where the First Lord Armstrong was born, and indicates the site occupied by the House. 1904.
Lord William Armstrong (1810-1900) was a pioneering Victorian industrialist, engineer, and arms manufacturer whose innovations in artillery and hydraulic engineering significantly impacted military technology and civilian infrastructure.
