Explorer Tom Whithorn has some coins that look suspiciously like they’ve been chewed on by time or maybe a very hungry dog. It would say to its younger self that buying things with shiny discs was a bit of a gamble. Bring wellies and low expectations, leave delighted.
Explorer Tom Whithorn, Glebe Field has got unassigned burials and timber buildings that are basically just the wind’s personal playground, always picking on the stones to see what makes them fall over. It’s probably tired of being a mystery and just wants someone to admit it’s cool for once in its life. Have a chat with it, nobody's watching.
Explorer Tom Whithorn, Bruce Street, Museum and Custodians House is a house that became a museum that was also a Masonic hall once, which is quite the CV for a building. It’s got so many jobs listed under it that I’m not even sure what it does for a living anymore, other than looking dusty. A fake royal visit probably happened there and nobody can disprove it because everyone was too busy arguing
Explorer Tom Whithorn’s Bruce Street has a local legend about a giant who got stuck in the alley! It’s a general view with no specific period, which means it could be anything from medieval to modern, and that’s the fun part. The street is full of character and enough mystery to keep you guessing. Stand back, squint, and it looks like a castle.
Explorer Tom Physgill House in Dumfries and Galloway went from medieval tower to WWI hospital to fancy country house. Its favourite song is probably 'The Sound of Silence' because it’s seen it all. It’s a multi-talented building with a long life story. Best seen with a hangover and a sausage roll.
